There is nothing like spending the Holidays with family. I've missed it so much living not as close to a lot of our families as I'd like too. But it really makes those times that you can spend with them more meaningful. I'm so glad we decided to go to California this year for Christmas. We were debating it for a while, and trying to figure out the logistics of the presents. But it ended up working out really good. Santa visited us here then in CA and then again when we came home he had left some of the bigger presents here.
It was a great surprise, about an hour after we got to my mom's house on Christmas eve, Santa and Mrs Clause showed up and talked to the kids. It was one of my old Young Women's leader and her husband. They heard we were coming to town and added my mom's house to the list of houses they were going to visit that night. The kids really enjoyed being with Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas and Mike's mom came over on Christmas to open presents and Christmas dinner. Christian just loved wrestling around with my brothers who both wrestled in high school, so they taught him some (not so) great moves. We're now trying really hard to get him to forget those (not so) great moves. We were suppose to come back before new years but the weather was soooo nice and we were having so much fun we lengthened our trip. If I had a choice I would still be there because of the loads of snow waiting for us in our driveway.
On New Years Eve we took my family out to dinner and then we went with my brother down town to look at the lights and check out the celebrations going on. You're probably sick of this, but the weather was so nice all we needed were light jackets and it was comfortable. I think I'm just astonished myself, after living in UT for 9 years, I've forgotten how nice it is in the winter time there.
We went to the Mission Inn to look at the Palm trees all lite up. There was some fun celebrations going on down town but we wanted to get back home to watch the Apple drop at 9pm. Then the kids were in bed by 9:15 and then the adults partied. Lorin is truly her fathers daughter. She completely has his personality. They goof off like no other. It's funny to watch.

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun!! I've never disliked the snow and cold of a Utah winter, but this year I'm kind of struggling with it. We must be over due for a trip to see Phil's family at Christmas time.
They live in New Zealand right? Now that's a place I would love to go visit. Especially while its freezing cold here.
Happy Holidays to your family! Looks like you guys had a wonderful vacation. I am super jealous. I would do anything to get out of this cold weather! Yuck!!
What a great idea to have had Santa go to your house too with the bigger stuff...hummm, I wounder why we never thought of that. I love your family picture, your daughters dresses are gorgeous!
That is so cute! I loved the picture of Lorin and Mike goofing off! Like father like daughter, or something like that!
Sounds like you had a fun holiday! I'm getting sick of the snow. I'm feeling like I need to see some PALM TREE'S.
Sounds like a super fun trip. It would be hard to live away from family, but it makes you get away a little more then you normally would. Good thing California is warm and no snow. That is the best part sometimes. I am glad you had really good holidays.
