1 week down 20 more to go

I have to keep telling myself that it will get easier after the first couple of weeks. Because it's been a long week. The kids are adjusting pretty well. We accomplished our goal of getting the house completely packed and in storage. And the goal of packing up the little Uhaul and driving west. The drive was not un-eventful. Let me first make a little note, Mike packed everything he would need for the next 5 months in two measely suitcases, whereas me and the kids had the back of the Pilot full and a little Uhaul attached to the back full. What can I say three girls can take a lot of room :)
We nearly ran out of gas on the trip down. And I'm serious when I say NEARLY. We were getting horrible gas mileage with the trailer so when the gas light came on and we were still 30 miles from Barstow I started seriously freaking out. It was 104 degrees outside and not one gas station in site and the needle kept going down and down. We finally spotted a sole building off the freeway and I booked it. Only for the gas attendant to tell me they didn't accept credit cards. That's fine I'll write you a check. Of course they don't accept checks either. That is seriously when I started begging. He made an acception and accepted my credit card. Thank goodness! Then of course at the agriculture check point we were stopped unloaded and checked out because of the trailer.
We did make it safely, thank goodness, with some grouchy tired kids. We spent the next couple days unpacking and melting in the heat. By Wednesday Lorin said she was ready to go to school so we took her to the elementary and enrolled her.

Lorin's second first day of school

Fortunately we got the teacher we wanted so I felt ok leaving her at her knew school where she didn't know anyway. But I still cried when I drove off. When she got home that afternoon she had a great day and her teacher is awesome. She met some friends in her class and adjusted just fine.

To keep cook in the afternoon we pulled out the little pool and filled it up with water and the kids have been little fishes. It entertains them and gets all the energy out that they have reserved so at the end of the days they crash.

I found a preschool for Christian that he will probably start this week. He's really excited but he thinks that he's going to be going with his friends. He had a rough first couple of days here but I think he's getting better. Getting used to having different rules. He was the one I was most worried about adjusting without seeing daddy everyday. He's daddy's boy and talks to him everyday to tell Mike he needs to finish school so he can come home :)

Kathryn has been fine, like there's been no change. She loves being with grandma and grandpa. She wakes up in the morning and says "grandma down stairs go see".

I finished my first class online last sunday and I start my next tomorrow. So far so good and it's nice to have something to fill up the extra time. I'm actually thinking about starting another one too. I left Mike's car back at home and have been trying to sell it. So far we've had a couple calls, hopefully it wont take long. It hasn't been a week yet so we'll see. The house has had a couple offers on too. Once we get those two ends tied up I'll feel so much better.

We hear from Mike every day, he was able to take his cell and he calls on breaks and after they're done. He had a busy first week and he said the next week will be busy too but after that it's just mon-fri 8-5. He say's its intense but it's suppose to be. He promised at the end after all the work outs and training he's going to be a "lean, mean, fighting machine." I remember when he graduated from boot camp going out and seeing him for the first time in 7 weeks and I hardly recognized him because he had 0% body fat and was the tannest I've ever seen him. Needless to say, I really need to start running again.

I'm so glad you guys got there safe and are somewhat re-adjusting! it's pretty weird to drive by your house and not see any of the kids out playing or your cars in the drive way! We miss ya and are excited for you new experience! Good luck with school! We will see you sometime in December when you come out again!!

I'm glad things are going well.
I've seen a few people go through the house. They were older...definately have grown children. They would be great renters because they don't have young children....But, then that wouldn't be any fun for us! :)
I saw the Honda being taken for a test drive....Hopefully they end up buying it!!
Good luck with the next few weeks. Now that Christian will be gone a few days out of the week maybe you can FLY through your online courses!
