I flew out to VA on a red eye so Mike picked me up and took me down to his prison cell he gets to stay in. That's what he calls it, out of his class of 48, 44 of them are from the east coast. So on the weekends they all go home. His roommate lives 15 minutes away from where they are. So he is gone right after they get out of class on Fridays. So Mike feels like an inmate on the weekends with no one around. I got to see his tiny room, his closet that is about 2 feet wide. There are 7 girls in his class and I have no idea how they live with such a small closet. And the best part, the bathrooms are jack and jill bathrooms. Meaning there are two rooms that share one bathroom. That would be 4 guys sharing one teeny tiny bathroom.
After the tour of his temporary home we got in the car and left Mike's prison not to return for 2 days. We headed northwest to WV. There was this apple butter festival going on by where our BandB was and I heard it's a great thing to experience. So we went and got some fresh Apple butter. It is sooo yummy.
So I found this really really cute Bed and Breakfast online in the country in Northern VA. It is actually owned by Marriott. It was Mr. Marriott's farm and the reason he started the Fairfield Inn's.
It is a ranch of 4400+ acres with stables of horses you can ride. So I planned one day to go horse back riding and the BandB provided us with a boxed lunch. The weather was absolutely perfect. We wore light sweaters but ended up taking them off. The trees are all changing colors, it is so beautiful. We took a ride up the mountains with a group of people staying at the BandB.
My last day there we spent visiting my grandma. I haven't seen her in almost 7 years and I really didn't recognize her. She's really sick and the dr's don't give her much time but it was really hard to see her. I remember her always as my spitfire little grandma. Hopefully she still has some time so that I can take my kids to meet her. And they can get to know her.
Then we drove around for about an hour going through some cities that might have potential for our new home. I'm really excited for this change, it's a big one but it's going to be really good. Mike absolutely loves what he's doing. He's such a natural at it too. He's usually good at anything he does (yeah he's one of those, and it drives me crazy) but not only is he good at what he's doing now but he loves it.
So we are looking for houses, now that we know where we're going to be. It's so hard doing it from way over here, but at least Mike's there now and can spend his weekends looking. I had such a great visit and I fell in love with VA. It is so beautiful. So if anyone wants to come and visit, we know lots of stuff to do and you're more then welcome to come stay with us :)
